A: Alt, is defined as denoting a version of something that is intended as a challenge to the traditional version. Since we wanted to challenge the high prices of current bionic devices, we thought that Alt-Bionics would be a fitting name!

A: The company was officially founded on June 24th, 2020 and we have been hard at work developing a production level prototype of our bionic prosthetic device. Product’s current level of completion: 47%

A: Yes! We are currently in the process of drafting a provisional Utility Patent. We are working with renowned patent attorneys to help ensure that our work and vision are protected.

A: Yes! As of 3/16/2021, Alt-Bionics has officially closed a portion of its initial seed round of financing. We are still accepting interest from Accredited Investors to help us complete this round. More information can be found on our Investment Page.

A: Our team currently consists of 8 members. 4 of those 8 members are Mechanical Engineers who are constantly refining our prototypes and improving on known flaws of other devices in the market. A complete list of our members can be found near the bottom of the home page!

A: Electromyography (EMG) is the measurement of the electrical activity of muscle tissue. Whenever you decide to move any part of your body, your brain sends an electrical signal to the necessary muscle groups. We take and use these signals to determine the intended motion of an amputee and translate it into the mechanical motion of the hand. This allows for anyone to control the bionic hand using any available muscle group.

A: Work is constantly being done on our custom sized solutions for those who are unable to use our Small, Medium, or Large options. The challenge for this is that the child with a limb difference would be constantly growing. This means that a prosthetic socket will need to be adapted several times.

A: Yes! We have plans to eventually offer our product overseas. While that type of expansion is likely 2-3 years away, we are actively looking at how to expedite that process.
